Backed up right now? We clear it today.
A clog that has already backed up is a different job from routine maintenance. The line is full, the pressure is on, and the priority is getting it open without making a mess of your home. We work from the right access point, clear the actual blockage rather than the first thing the cable reaches, and then tell you what caused it.
Clogs we clear
-
Kitchen sinks backing up into the basin
-
Toilets overflowing or refusing to flush
-
Tubs and showers standing full
-
Laundry lines overflowing at the standpipe
-
Floor and basement drains backing up
-
Multiple fixtures backing up at once
How we handle a backed-up drain
One slow fixture is local. Several at once is the main line. Getting this right in the first five minutes decides whether we work from the fixture or the cleanout, and it is where most wasted money starts.
We size the machine to the line and clear the actual blockage, then run water long enough to prove it holds under real load rather than declaring victory at the first trickle.
A camera shows whether that was a one-off or the line is coated, rooted, or damaged. You get an honest answer, including when the answer is that nothing more is needed.
Frequently asked questions
My toilet overflows but the sink is fine. Where is the clog?
Almost certainly local to the toilet or its branch. When the main line is blocked, the lowest fixtures in the house back up too, and a working sink upstairs is good evidence the main is still passing.
Should I try a plunger or a store-bought cleaner first?
A plunger is fine and sometimes enough. Chemical cleaners we would avoid: they seldom reach a real blockage, they can damage older pipe, and they make the line hazardous for whoever opens it next. Tell us if you have already poured any in.
Why does the same drain keep clogging?
Because it was opened rather than cleaned. A cable through a coated line leaves the coating on the wall and it closes back over. Ask for the line to be jetted and inspected with a camera if you are on your third visit for the same drain.
Can you come today?
Usually yes, and we answer the phone around the clock. Sewage backing up into living space is treated as an emergency and dispatched as soon as we have the address.
Everything you need to know about clearing a clogged drain
The first thing worth knowing when a drain backs up is how much of the house is affected. One slow sink is a local problem in that fixture’s branch line. Two or more fixtures backing up at the same time, particularly the lowest ones, means the main sewer line is blocked and clearing the individual drains will accomplish nothing.
That single distinction saves people a lot of money. Plenty of homeowners pay repeatedly to have a basement fixture snaked when the blockage is fifty feet out under the lawn, because that fixture is simply where the water surfaces first.
What to do before we arrive
Stop running water to anything that is backing up, including the dishwasher and washing machine, which discharge a lot of volume quickly. Note which fixtures are affected and roughly when it started. If sewage has come up into living space, keep people and pets away from it.
Opening it versus fixing it
Anyone can push a cable until water moves. The question is whether the line was cleaned or merely punctured. If a drain clogs again within weeks, it was punctured. Proper drain cleaning takes the buildup off the pipe wall, and on a coated line that means hydro jetting.
When a clog is really a broken pipe
Repeat backups on a short cycle, gurgling that moves between fixtures, or sewage odor in the yard all point past a simple clog. A camera inspection settles it, and if the pipe has failed you will see the break before anyone mentions sewer line repair.
Flushable wipes
They are not. They do not break down the way paper does, they catch on every joint and root hair, and they are behind a large share of the main line clogs we clear. If they are in the house, that is very often the answer.
We clear clogs across New Jersey, days, nights and weekends. See where we work, or call for a free estimate.
Pro tip
If more than one fixture is backing up, stop using every drain in the house until it is cleared. Every load of laundry and every flush adds volume to a line that already has nowhere to put it, and that is how a slow drain becomes a flooded basement.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERSARE SAYING.
Hundreds of reviews from neighbors across Monmouth and Ocean County. Real people, real problems solved fast and right.
We recently had our sewer line repaired by Just Drains and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The crew was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the process. They arrived when promised, completed the work efficiently, and left the area clean when they were finished. Highly recommend!
We had to call Just Drains last Sunday. Within an hour, Paul was here. He was able to unclog our line but found a place it was catching. They were able to get a guy here with a camera in the next hour and found our pipe was crushed. A crew was here shortly and spent the next 5 hours hand digging to our crushed pipe. They got the work done, all on a Sunday, and were such kind, friendly guys.
A company who actually means that they’re 24/7 service! I called for an emergency at 11:30pm for a clogged toilet and drain. Within 2 minutes, a text came through stating a technician, Tim, was on the way. He called me directly and gave an ETA, and in less than an hour he arrived. Super friendly, and he saved us from disaster.
For starters it’s great when you can call a company on a Saturday and they answer the phone. They promptly scheduled service for Sunday morning. Their guy showed up right on time. His name was Richie and he did a great job. Great communication from the company start to finish.
Awesome company with awesome staff! Every single person who was involved with my broken sewer pipe was friendly, honest and empathetic. This was a big job with a lot of jackhammering of concrete, cutting of blacktop and so much digging, and they did it all in one day! I could not be more pleased.
I had a plumbing emergency at my elderly parents house, and I called Just Drains in a panic. They responded within an hour. Paul the technician was professional, friendly and incredibly efficient. He fixed the problem quickly without any mess. The pricing was great and no surprise charges.
I called early in the morning regarding a clog in the kitchen sink. Anthony arrived by 11. He was polite and worked neatly. The experience was great and the drain was fixed!
Very happy with the service. Honest and professional. Paul explained exactly what had happened, offered options to address the issue short and long term. Finished the job on time, tested, and cleaned everything after. Highly recommended.
Excellent. We had an emergency at our gym on a Sunday afternoon and they had someone come out within hours of our call and didn’t charge us an arm and a leg for the service.
We had a visit from Just Drains today to unclog the sewer pipe in the house. Paul Fernandez, the technician, was super nice! Very knowledgeable and professional, he explained all the steps of the procedure to clear the sewer blockage, and then executed those steps with a smile. They also gave us suggestions for future maintenance.
I had a sewer pipe issue from the house to the road and you sent out a technician, Anthony, who couldn’t have been more knowledgeable, helpful, kind, understanding and personable. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a drain company to make this call. They were out within a couple of hours after I called and the price was fair.
